Temporary Display

The present temporary display is an insight to the invaluable work carried out during WW2 by women from all sections of the community across the province in the name of the Ulster Gift Fund.     War Hospital Supply Depots were opened and industrious women worked voluntarily sewing, knitting, packing and dispatching thousands of items to supply Hospitals and Serving Forces with all the requirements imaginable.     The knitting aspect has been researched in more detail and many items reproduced from War Office approved WW2 patterns.

Specific research highlights the voluntary work undertaken locally for the Larne War Hospital Supply Depot which incidentally, in 1943, was noted as being the 3rd largest in the province.
